Nestled high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Lake Tahoe straddles two states across 191 square miles. It is the largest Alpine Lake in North America and the second deepest lake in the United States at 1,645 feet. It is 22 miles long by 12 miles wide. Formed 2 million years ago as part of the Tahoe Basin, Lake Tahoe is known for its outstanding natural beauty and scenic areas. From the emerald colored waters of Emerald Bay to the shores of Sand Harbor to Bonsai Rock, Lake Tahoe is home to outstanding landscapes.
Lake Tahoe is incredibly beautiful, with outstandingly clear blue water and stunning scenery in every direction. I’ve spent a lot of time here over the years, and Emerald Bay (in California) and Bonsai Rock (in Nevada) have always been two of my favorite places here. The views from each place are incredible, and it’s easy to get lost on the moment immersed in the peace and serenity this place has to offer. From stunning sunsets to the Milky Way rising high above, both locations are incredibly beautiful and vintage Lake Tahoe. It may not be protected like a national park is, but its beauty is certainly deserving of it.
It’s easy to see why so many people hold Lake Tahoe in such high regard, the mix Sierra Nevada Mountains rising above the glacial water of Lake Tahoe is stunning. It’s a place which always leaves me feeling peaceful with a renewed sense of spirit. I hope everyone who visits my Lake Tahoe Fine Art Photography gallery experiences the same feelings of peace and renewal that I always have here.
