Fog rises near the shore of Trillium Lake while the colors of sunrise illuminate the clouds in the skies above as the scene reflects in the calm, still waters of the lake. Orange and Red of sunrise illuminate the clouds above, mixing with the bluish-purple and faint yellow in the clouds as the scene creates a mirror reflection in the water.
Light fog begins to cover the forest on the slopes above Trillium Lake, as rising fog creates a soft ethereal blanket on the water near the trees along the shore reflecting in the water through the mist as tall grasses grow along the shore in the foreground. It's a soft, magical sunrise reflection in one of my favorite spots on Mount Hood.

Fairytale Magic at Trillium Lake: The Wonders of Sunrise in the Cathedrals of Nature
There's something magical about sunrise at Trillium Lake when clouds blanket the morning skies. When the cloud cover is just right the colors of sunrise catch the clouds, creating a wonderful color palette of warm sunrise colors against the cooler tones the clouds in the Pacific Northwest are known for. It's a magnificent sight, especially when the vivid green beauty of the Mount Hood National Forest rises all around you as soft morning evaporation fog blankets the water.
I've always found sunrise at Trillium Lake to be a time of peace and quiet. It's a thin place which feels like it blurs the lines between Heaven and Earth. Time always seems to stand still when the wondrous colors of sunrise appear over the lake and the blanket of green surrounding it, and it's especially stunning when the calm waters create a mirror reflection as the magic of morning reflects in the water like a beautiful forest melody.
The juxtaposition of colors at sunrise this morning was truly enchanting. It captivates the soul, and it always feels like nature wraps a warm blanket of beauty around you to wash away your worries as you greet the new day. I've spent a lifetime visiting Mount Hood and Trillium Lake, and over 4 decades since I first visited this magnificent place it still feels like a charmed fairytale every time I lay eyes on it.
