Serenity of Silence - Yosemite Valley Merced River Fall Color Mirror Reflections Autumn Storm Clouds
Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park, California
Autumn Reflections in the Merced River, Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park, California
Golden fall colors line the river bank along the Merced River as the Black Cottonwood trees and granite cliffs of Yosemite Valley reflect in the still waters, while Yosemite Falls runs dry on the granite cliffs high above (the darkening around where Yosemite Falls flows is visible on the granite cliffs high above). Bigleaf Maple, Black Oak and Pacific Dogwood also contribute to Yosemite Valley's fall color display, which is often highly underrated.
This photo was taken one month after Autumn's Majesty, which showcases the same location under blue skies at peak golden fall color in a vertical orientation. Serenity of Silence captures the same spot in late autumn under storm clouds in a horizontal panoramic format. Two visits, one month apart, two completely different stories.
Fine art landscape photograph a dry Yosemite Falls and it's towering granite cliffs reflecting in the Merced River in the late fall. This image captures the grandeur of Yosemite Valley under a blanket of soft clouds as the scene reflects in the clear waters of the river, and is available as a luxury museum-grade limited edition print by James Mead.
The Serenity of Silence: A Panoramic Journey through Yosemite Valley in the Fall
Scenes like this have always felt so peaceful and serene. It’s as if you're witnessing a brief glimpse into the wonders of heaven. The Merced River was still as a mirror, reflecting the last colors of autumn hanging on along the shore and the granite cliffs rising high above the valley floor. The water had a clarity allowing you to see through to the bottom, yet it reflected enough light to create a mirror image. The river flow slows down this time of year, reflecting the last colors of autumn as it slowly winds its way through the valley. The water was the perfect amount of reflection and clarity. The way the riverbanks lead in and converge at the grove of autumn color reflecting downstream is truly stunning. Cloudy days like this are always among my favorite. They have a soft light that mixes with the cold, crisp air of autumn. It's moments like this which I could get lost in forever, enjoying the beauty of nature in all its glory.
