I've always loved Trillium Lake. Mornings hear can be magical, as fog rises from the waters and clings to pine and Douglas Fir forests which cover the slopes of Eureka Peak. It's a mix of younger forests and old growth forests in this part of the Mount Hood National Forest, and witnessing the morning fog rising from the lake as the colors of sunrise illuminate the clouds in the sky is always a surreal sight to see.
Most people here only look towards Mount Hood, and while I agree that's a spectacular view, I've always enjoyed finding the hidden beauty here which is often missed when you fail to turn around and simply take in the wonders nature gives you. It's a rugged beauty looking west towards Eureka Peak, and seeing the first light of a Pacific Northwest sunrise filters through the clouds as the low laying mist rises off the glassy, mirrored surface of Trillium Lake is a moment I'll never forget. Scenes like this always seem to be a moment frozen in time, and seeing that magical mix of pastels in the sky mix with the reflections in the waters of Trillium Lake as it reflects Eureka Peak and the surrounding forest is a moment I'll never forget.
