Bigleaf Maple Trees turn yellow and gold with the colors of Autumn at sunset in the Columbia River Gorge near Corbett, Oregon. Often known as the Oregon Maple due to the fact they are native to Oregon and grow in abundance here, Bigleaf Maples have the largest leaves of any variety of Maple tree, with leaves that often reach upwards of 12 inches across in size.

Autumn in Oregon can be incredibly beautiful if you head to the right spots. The Pacific Northwest is known for its evergreen trees, but if you know where to look the colors of autumn are absolutely stunning on the deciduous trees. Bigleaf Maples thrive throughout Oregon's forests and river valleys, earning them the fitting nickname of Oregon Maple. When the gorgeous leaves of the maple trees turn that soft golden yellow, it's truly a thing of beauty. It's incredible to stand under a canopy of Oregon Maples with leaves stretching 12 inches across as the colors of sunset light the skies above.
It was absolutely amazing seeing the maples growing in this grove, a few fallen leaves laying on the soft grasses as the colors of sunset filter through the leaves. It's so incredibly peaceful and serene, standing under these as you look out at the scattering of wonderful colors around you. This one needed no complexity, as the colors of autumn in a grove of trees with the sunset filtering through was enough. Sometimes it's those simple scenes you could get lost in forever, as everything comes together in perfect harmony producing a wonderful blanket of soft gold above you.
