Mount Rainier National Park
First visited by John Muir on August 8, 1888, Mount Rainer became America's 5th National Park through an act of congress in 1899. Mount Rainier is the largest volcano in the Cascade Range, rising 14,411 feet into the sky. It is home to numerous glaciers, including America's largest glacier by volume. Countless waterfalls, subalpine wildflower meadows, and lakes dominate the landscape surround this mountain. The Paradise area features stunning overlooks and trails to high alpine wildflower meadows. On a calm day, the waters of Reflection Lake reflect amazing colors at sunset and sunrise. The Sunrise area on the east side of the park offers stunning views of the Emmons Glacier with hundreds of acres of wildflower meadows. No matter where you go in Mount Rainer, you are sure to experience the same alpine beauty John Muir once did.
