Nestled high in the Sierra-Nevada Mountains, Lake Tahoe straddles two states across 191 square miles. It is the largest Alpine Lake in North America and the second deepest lake in the United States. It is 22 miles long by 12 miles wide. Formed 2 million years ago as part of the Tahoe Basin, Lake Tahoe is known for its outstanding natural beauty and scenic areas.
