Lake Mead - Hoover Dam
Lake Mead was named after my Great Great Grandfather Dr Elwood Mead, who was the commissioner of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. He oversaw the planning, engineering, and construction of Hoover Dam. Lake Mead is located on the Colorado River, formed by Hoover Dam. Hoover Dam was constructed in Black Canyon. The majority of Lake Mead's water is from snow melt in Rocky Mountains of Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. It is divided into several basins, with Boulder Basin being the closest basin to Hoover Dam.
